Throughout the month of February, Confession Session joins our nation in celebrating the history and culture of African American citizens during National African American/Black History Month. This month's observance has its origins in 1915 when historian and author Dr. Carter G. Woodson founded the Association for the Study of Negro Life and History. Dr. Woodson and the association initiated the first Negro History Week in February 1926. Every U.S. President has officially designated the month of February as National African American/Black History Month since 1976.
Confession Session is celebrating with a Black History Month Special Edition in which you will find enriching and inspiring stories from across the nation about the lives and integral role of African Americans in today’s society
As we take this month to honor African Americans in our nation, I encourage everyone to reflect on how the African American historical struggle for freedom is and will always be an inspiration that is just as relevant in today’s world as it was to the world since the late 1800’s. We are here to empower our communities to connect, act and thrive. Together. We. Win.
